Fran Gambro was sworn in as a fire fighter at the Wheeling Fire Department on September 15, 1979. He served as Vice President of Wheeling Local 3079 for 10 years. He had been a member of the AFFI Political Education Committee since it’s inception in the early 90’s. He also served as PEC Chairman for 5 years (until his passing). Fran was very active in local and state campaigning and elections for friends of fire fighters. We lost Fran on February 25 (, 2001).

The IAFF Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Treatment and Recovery is a one-of-a-kind addiction treatment facility specializing in PTSD for IAFF members – and IAFF members only – who are struggling with addiction, PTSD other related behavioral health challenges to receive the help they need in taking the first steps toward recovery. It is a safe haven for members to talk with other members who have faced or overcome similar challenges.
